Weekly update

Tuesday, December 2nd:

Went to the jail for magistrate warnings which made me late for probate court.  Began probate court at approximately 9:10 a.m. AND I AM STILL THERE!!! It is approximately 12:50 pm and I missed a noon lunch meeting.  Then I have mental hearings at 1:30 pm, so I am wondering if I’ll be able to eat.  After my mental hearings I have a 2:00 pm meeting about jail alternatives… then I have magistrate duties at the jail again, and I haven’t been able to sit down at my desk yet.  I received a gazillion phone calls and won’t be able to return them all in a timely manner.

At 5:00 pm I have to attend a political event, then at 6:00 pm I am going to the Sheriff’s annual banquet, and I need to be at John Tyler High School for one of the kid’s TOTs performance at 7:30.  My schedule is getting away from me and I am feeling a little frazzled.

Monday, December 1st:

Went to the jail for magistrate warnings then rushed to the office to perform the “swearing-in” for Constable Andy Dunklin.  Then we had Commissioners Court to pay bills and interview HR director candidates which went into the noon hour.  As soon as I went into my office I received a call from the school nurse - long story short, I picked up Coleman and he got stitches from a fall at school.

Sunday the 30th:

Went to the jail for magistrate warnings, then picked up donuts for the kids and helped get everyone ready for church.

We enjoyed a nice church service and Melanie left for her annual Christmas shopping trip with her mom and sister-in-law… leaving me with the kids (scary).  We enjoyed a nice afternoon.  Fab and Dom came over and we finished the trailer project.

Saturday the 29th:

Another day off… whew!!!  Enjoyed time with the kids and my nephew.  Fab came over and we worked on insulating his cargo trailer.  I use the term “we” extremely loosely because he didn’t do anything but hold a flashlight.  Ordered pizza for dinner.  Have I mentioned that it was nice not to have any official “work” to do?

Friday the 28th:

I took the kids back to Tyler (including my nephew) while Melanie went to work. Me and the kids took the dogs to the animal clinic and discovered that Aggie has heartworms.  We bathed the dogs when we got home (which was a feat because Aggie weighs over 80 pounds).  We enjoyed a nice day off.

I helped Melanie put the Christmas tree up, and after the kids were asleep I went to do some very late night  Christmas shopping.  At 11:45 pm I received a phone call from James Lee advising me that Judge Bill Lemmert had passed away… a very sad ending to the day.

Thursday the 27th:

Happy Turkey Day!  I am so thankful for family and friends and all the opportunities God has given me.

I woke up this morning and went to the jail for magistrate warnings, then went home to get the kids ready and pack to go to my in-laws house.  Fab and Dom joined us for a great Thanksgiving meal and good fellowship with Mel’s extended family.

I tried to connect the video to the jail but Rains County has horrible cell coverage, and it would not work.

We spent the night there and enjoyed spending time with my in-laws and my nephew.

Wednesday the 26th:

Went to the jail to do magistrate warnings.  Went home to take care of kids.  Hung out with them until I had to go to the office.  Took them to the office and stayed there until about 6pm.  Then met Melanie (and friends) at JC for a nice dinner.
